Communication - A Bridge or A Gap?

Seems like a boon or curse question right? Well of course it does to Extroverts and Introverts respectively. In order to get a deeper idea about communication, let's define it first!
Communication is imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, writing, or using some other medium.
                                                                                                                   - Google

That would a be typical definition by Google. But is it so easy to understand and explain? I don't think so, because if it was our life and environment around us would have been totally different.

Communication is almost an inseperable routine of our life now! Unless and until you are deaf and dumb at the same time. Apparently that too would include a considerable amount of communication by sign language.

How does communication feel to you? Like a Bridge where it helps you to connect easily with people around and let you convey what's inside your mind and heart OR it feels like a Gap to you for not being able to open up, unable to convey so much of feelings, vibes and knowledge within to the surrounding?

There would be varied responses to the above questions which helps us narrow down the 3 basic types of people depending on their ability to communicate :
Introvert : a person predominantly concerned with their own thoughts and feelings rather than with external things.
                                                                                                         - Google

Too much to complicate the term right? In Layman terms Introverts are people who enjoy their own company, who don' feel much to connect socially OR should I say they do want to express themselves and connect socially as much as a normal human but aren't actually able to? Which of the above seems correct? Too many questions to answer and discuss. Before that let's unveil other species of communication world and then discuss them over.
Extrovert : an outgoing, socially confident person.
                                                                                                                     - Google

How supportive of the Google definition to be so simple for an Extrovert! This simply indicates the easiness for being an extrovert person, but trust me it is not so easy as it sounds to behave as an extrovert and break the walls of being an introvert person. At the same time it is not at all impossible too. I mean it's a simply a choice of how you want to be. There is never a compulsion to be an Extrovert nor a restriction on being an Introvert.

Well that leaves one to an idea of another species of communication world. What if there were people who can be both as the times requires them to be and can be none at the same time. Sounds ambitious!

Ambivert : a person who has a balance of extrovert and introvert features in their personality.
                                                                                                                        - Google

Indeed it is amazing to have such a personality. Serves the purpose of being both an Extrovert and an Introvert at the same time. These are the type of people who fit themselves at most of the places. Can talk and respond when approached and be silent and restrictive socially when felt like not to melt in. Almost sounds like a superpower to me.

You must be wondering why being an Ambivert is better than simply being Extrovert. Well, with great power comes great responsibility. Same is with being an Extrovert. An Extrovert tends to commute and participate easily wherever and whenever possible. Their ability of befriending people easily, definitely leads them to a bigger circle but is it a quality circle? Not Always.

On the other hand being an Ambivert personality allows you to fit right in all the communities. You have your patience to know and verify your gems. You take a breath to analyse and understand the person in front. Hastily made relations often lead to disappointments. So expressing when asked for and silencing when required makes it an all rounder personality.

So if you try to answer the Blog topic now, you can say Communication is a bridge for an Extrovert but is a Gap to easily connect for an Introvert person. Whereas, for an Ambivert person, it leaves her to a choice to take Communication as a Bridge to connect or a Gap to maintain.

Next interesting thing would be to know how to try being an extrovert or ambivert in order to convey important things within you. Seems like a task for an Introvert. One must be able to talk, share and discuss when required. I might be writing some insights for this in my next blog.
